Get a statement on the African Bank app
African Bank lists Get my statement as an app feature for MyWORLD, investment, loan and credit card accounts, and says you can view and download your account statement on the app. It does not publish the app's menu names, so the steps stay general:
- Log in to the African Bank app.
- Choose the account you need a statement for.
- Open the statement option, which African Bank calls Get my statement.
- Choose the period, then view, download or email the statement.
To register for the app you need an email address, a cellphone number and your ID. African Bank warns that low-end phones may not be compatible, and says online banking and the app are zero-rated on the MTN and Vodacom networks.
Get a statement on internet banking
African Bank's help video walks through the internet banking screens for card, loan and investment accounts. It dates from 2021, so the layout may have moved on, but the order of the steps is still a useful guide:
- Log in to African Bank internet banking.
- Choose Get statement from the menu for the account type: Bank for a card, Loans for a loan, or Investments for an investment.
- Select the account.
- Pick one of the previous statements listed, or enter a start date and an end date.
- Select Get Statement, then view, email, print or download it.
When you email a statement this way, your own email address is filled in for you. Replace it with the recipient's address to send the statement straight to a landlord or lender.
Email a statement
African Bank lists Send me statements as a feature of internet banking, the app and cellphone banking, but does not publish how to switch on a regular emailed statement. A one-off email is straightforward:
- Get the statement on internet banking, as above, or on the app.
- Choose the email option.
- Check or change the email address, and send.
For regular emailed statements, call customer service on 0861 111 011 (MyWORLD: 0861 123 456) and ask how to set it up on your account.
Use cellphone banking on *120*225#
Cellphone banking is also listed with Get my statement in African Bank's feature table, so a basic phone will do. You have to register first, either with a consultant in a branch or online.
- Register for cellphone banking at a branch or online.
- Dial *120*225# and accept the terms.
- Follow the prompts to the statement option. African Bank does not publish the menu wording.
At a branch or by phone
African Bank's pricing guide effective 1 October 2026 lists current and historical MyWORLD statements, printed or emailed, as free on digital channels and R6.00 per statement at a branch. Its FAQ also says you can contact the bank at any time to get a statement.
- Visit a branch with your ID, or call customer service on 0861 111 011. For MyWORLD the number is 0861 123 456, and for investments 0860 494 940.
- Say which account and which months you need.
- Say whether the statement needs to be stamped, and ask what it will cost.
Customer service is open Monday to Friday from 7:00 to 19:00, Saturday from 8:00 to 16:00 and Sunday from 8:00 to 14:00.
Stamped statements and account confirmation letters
African Bank does not describe a stamped statement anywhere on its website, and it does not say whether the PDFs from the app or internet banking carry a bank stamp. If an embassy, a bond originator or a letting agent asks for stamped statements, open your PDF and look for a stamp first. If there is none and they insist, ask at a branch or call customer service before you pay for anything.
Often the real requirement is proof that the account is yours. For a MyWORLD account, African Bank says an account confirmation letter is free on online banking or the app, and it may be all the recipient needs.
Loan and credit card statements, paid-up letters and settlement quotes
For a personal loan or a credit card, the digital channels give you more than a statement. African Bank lists Get my paid up letter and Get my settlement quote next to Get my statement on internet banking, the app and cellphone banking. Its help video shows Get paid-up letter under the Bank menu for cards and the Loans menu for loans, and the letter can be viewed, emailed, printed or downloaded.
Once a loan is settled, keep a copy of the paid-up letter with your records: it is your proof that the debt is closed. On credit cards, African Bank's 2026/2027 pricing lists statement reprints as free.
How far back you can go, and what it costs
African Bank does not publish a limit on how far back statements go. Its pricing guide separates current statements from historical ones but charges the same for both: free digitally and R6.00 at a branch, VAT included, as at 1 October 2026.
That is a large drop. The previous guide, which ran to September 2026, charged R50.00 for a branch statement and listed an ATM statement at R4.00, an option the new guide no longer includes. Internet banking lets you enter a start and end date, so try the range you need there before paying at a branch.
Password-protected statements
African Bank does not publish a password for its statement PDFs. If a statement asks for one, check the email it came with for instructions, or call customer service on 0861 111 011.
To upload the statement to our converter or to a lender's portal, open it and save an unlocked copy first.
Common problems
- A transaction on your statement looks wrong: African Bank asks you to call 0861 111 011. Raise it as soon as you notice it.
- The app will not install or run properly: African Bank warns that low-end devices may be incompatible. Use internet banking in a browser instead.
- You cannot find Get statement on internet banking: in the help video it sits under the menu for each account type, Bank, Loans or Investments, rather than in one shared statements area.
- You have a stokvel account: African Bank says you can download the stokvel statement or tax certificate from the app or internet banking, or get help at a branch.
- You need a tax certificate rather than a statement: Get my tax certificate is on internet banking and the app.
Self-employed and asked for proof of income?
Lenders and letting agents usually ask a salaried applicant for payslips and a self-employed one for bank statements, often the last three months and often stamped. Ask exactly which months and which format they want before you request anything. If they also want a summary of what you earn, our proof of income letter generator lays your figures out in a format they can read quickly, alongside the statements.
