Bank statement guide

How to download a Standard Bank statement

In the Standard Bank app, select the account, scroll down to Your documents, tap View & Save, and choose the 6-Month statement or one of your previous monthly statements. Download it, or send it as an email.

We are an independent South African site and are not affiliated with, or endorsed by, Standard Bank. Menus in banking apps change; if a step below no longer matches what you see, the bank's own help pages listed under Sources have the final word.

Standard Bank files statements with your other account documents, such as confirmation letters, rather than giving them a menu of their own. Once you know to look under Your documents, the app route takes about a minute, and Standard Bank describes its app as the place to get stamped bank statements and confirmation letters.

Online Banking is mid-change. Standard Bank has launched a new platform, but the step-by-step instructions it publishes still describe the older one. This guide covers both and says plainly where the published detail runs out.

Download a statement on the Standard Bank app

You need the Standard Bank app on Android 6 or later, or iOS 15 or later.

  1. Sign in to the app and select the account on the home screen.
  2. Scroll down to Your documents and tap View & Save.
  3. Tap the three dots to the right and choose the 6-Month statement option.
  4. Download the statement to your phone, or send it as an email to the address you prefer.

Need one particular month? Scroll further down to Previous statements, which lists your monthly statements, and download or email the one you want. Standard Bank's help page for these steps dates from 2020, so if a label has moved, look for the documents section of the account.

Download a statement on Online Banking

Standard Bank says its new Online Banking platform lets you view or email your bank statements and transfer history, but it has not published click-by-click steps for it. At the level we can confirm:

  1. Sign in to Online Banking from standardbank.co.za.
  2. Select the account you need.
  3. Open its statements and choose the period.
  4. View, download or email the statement.

Using the old Online Banking layout

The older platform is still available: click your name and choose Return to old Online Banking. Standard Bank says home loan, AutoShare Invest and tax-free savings accounts may not yet appear on the new platform, so the old one is also where to find those. Its FAQ gives these steps:

  1. Sign in to Internet Banking at standardbank.co.za.
  2. Click Transact.
  3. Under History & Documents, select Statements.
  4. Choose the account and the statement date. Statements here go back 24 months.
  5. Click Download or View.

Have statements emailed to you

Standard Bank says you can subscribe to receive your statements by post or by email. It does not publish the steps for setting up a regular subscription, so the options below are the ones we can confirm.

  1. For a single statement, use Send it as an email in the app, or the email option on Online Banking.
  2. For a regular emailed statement, ask Standard Bank to subscribe you. Its contact page lists the numbers to call.
  3. For a home loan, SMS Yes to 32264 to have your home loan statements sent straight to your email address.

Print a statement at a Standard Bank ATM

Standard Bank ATMs print statements for your account going back six months, using your card and PIN. The bank does not publish the ATM menu, so the steps stay general.

  1. Insert your card at a Standard Bank ATM and enter your PIN.
  2. Choose the statement option and the period you need, up to six months back.
  3. Collect the printout and check the dates.

On a MyMo account an ATM statement costs R10. Standard Bank's own MyMo pricing guide points out that the same monthly statement is free on the app.

At a Standard Bank branch

Standard Bank does not publish a branch procedure for statements, and a branch statement costs far more. Under the 2026 personal pricing guides a monthly statement at a branch is R100, so use a branch only when no other channel works, or when the person asking needs something the app cannot produce.

  1. Take your bank card and your ID to a branch.
  2. Ask for the months you need, and say if the statement must be stamped.
  3. Confirm the fee before anything is printed.

Stamped or unstamped: which one do you need?

A stamped statement is one the bank has marked as its own, and it is the kind embassies, home loan providers and letting agents tend to ask for, since a plain PDF can be edited. Standard Bank describes its app as the place to get stamped bank statements, and its 2026 business pricing guide lists 3-month stamped statements as free on Online Banking and the app.

The personal pricing guides do not mention stamped statements at all, and the app help page does not say which PDFs carry a stamp. So before you send a statement, open it and look for the bank stamp. If you cannot see one and the recipient insists on it, ask Standard Bank for a stamped copy.

How far back you can go

Each channel reaches back a different distance:

  • App: a 6-month statement, plus a list of previous monthly statements. Standard Bank does not say how far back that list goes.
  • Online Banking: 24 months, according to the FAQ for the old platform.
  • ATM: six months.

What Standard Bank charges for statements

Fees are set per account in Standard Bank's 2026 pricing guides. For the main personal accounts, the monthly statements line reads like this:

  • MyMo: free on Online Banking for up to six months, then R10 a month. R10 at an ATM, R100 at a branch.
  • Consolidator and Achieva: free online for up to six months. R10 at an ATM, R100 at a branch.
  • Signature and Prestige: free online. R10 at an ATM, R100 at a branch.

The pricing guides also list separate eStatement charges without explaining them, while a Standard Bank article from July 2026 says emailed statements from the app or Online Banking come at no additional monthly cost. Before you set up a regular email subscription, ask what, if anything, it will cost on your account.

The eStatement password

Standard Bank's security pages say its eStatements only ask for your ID number to open, and that the bank will never ask for your email address and Internet Banking password to open a statement. That gives you a simple test: a "statement" that asks for your banking password is a phishing email, and should be deleted.

To upload the statement anywhere, including our converter, open it with your ID number and save an unlocked copy first.

Common problems

  • The app will not install or update: it needs Android 6 or later, or iOS 15 or later.
  • A home loan or investment account is missing on the new Online Banking: click your name and return to old Online Banking.
  • The app only offers a 6-month statement: that is the statement it generates. For single months, use Previous statements further down the same screen.
  • You are abroad and the one-time PIN never arrives: OTPs need roaming. Standard Bank suggests switching them to email before you travel.
  • A statement email looks suspicious: Standard Bank warns about fake eStatement emails. A real one asks only for your ID number. Do not click links in an email you are unsure of.

Self-employed and asked for proof of income?

Lenders and letting agents usually ask a salaried applicant for payslips and a self-employed one for bank statements, often the last three months and often stamped. Ask exactly which months and which format they want before you request anything. If they also want a summary of what you earn, our proof of income letter generator lays your figures out in a format they can read quickly, alongside the statements.

Frequently asked questions

Where are statements in the Standard Bank app?

Select the account, scroll down to Your documents and tap View & Save. The three-dot menu offers a 6-Month statement, and Previous statements lists your monthly ones. You can download either or send it as an email.

How far back can I get a Standard Bank statement?

Standard Bank's FAQ says Online Banking statements go back 24 months, and its ATMs print statements going back six months. The app produces a 6-month statement and lists previous monthly statements.

What is the password for a Standard Bank eStatement?

Standard Bank says its eStatements only ask for your ID number. It will never ask for your email address and Internet Banking password to open a statement, so treat any email that does as a scam.

How much does a Standard Bank statement cost?

It depends on your account. On MyMo, the 2026 pricing guide lists statements of up to six months as free online, R10 at an ATM and R100 at a branch. Signature and Prestige statements are free online.

Can I get a stamped statement from the Standard Bank app?

Standard Bank says the app is where you get stamped bank statements and confirmation letters. Open the PDF and check for the stamp before you send it, and ask the bank for a stamped copy if the recipient needs one you cannot see.

Can I convert a Standard Bank statement to Excel?

Yes. Save an unlocked copy of the PDF and upload it to our bank statement converter, which also reads Standard Bank business statements. You need a free account to convert PDFs, and the first 5 pages each month are free.
